Plaas Media has decided to postpone this year’s leg of the Agricultural Student of the Year Competition. “Given the current circumstances in the country and the time constraints created by it, it does not make sense to launch the competition now,” says company CEO, Lynette Louw.
“The fact that students will have to catch up once they return to their various educational institutions and given the workload that awaits, means that we would have to rethink and establish a new, much tighter time-frame for entries, presentations and the like. We do not wish to create more pressure than necessary.”
Plaas Media is also still negotiating with a new competition sponsor, after the previous sponsor did not renew the sponsorship contract. Negotiations with the new sponsor have been delayed due to a temporary halt on spending because of the Covid-19 lockdown. However, the company has already indicated that the sponsorship has been approved in principle, but that additional time is needed complete the necessary administrative approvals on their side.
